Butterfly Polite’s Little Bit Of Blog

Ok.  Song 09.03 done, and I an very happy with it and it’s overblown production.  Sarah has recorded hours and hours of multipart ‘oohs’ for this epic.
Have been thinking about what I should do with these songs:

…although currently is quite a barebones recording.  That’s not cheating is it?
Have made a start on 09.03.  Feeling pretty good thus far.

I have made a decision to write a song a new song per week.  Wish me luck.

This one is not live.  That is not because we are unable to perform it live, but rather because I thought I would give away the version from “TheMessWeMade”.  It must be the mulled wine that is making us so generous.

R.E.S.P.E.C.T.E.T.C.
Quite a different beast from the recorded version on TheMessWeMade.  Mostly it involves five sevenths of the band doing an impromptu version on John Cage’s 4:33 whilst Sarah and Andy struggle on, then everyone leaping in for the finale like the goal hanging glory stealers they are.  The references to Aretha Franklin and Shania Twain [...]

Unnatural Selection
Ironically dubbed ‘the hit’ within the band, this is great fun to play and pretty much always features in the live sets.  It features on the Bursting Bubbles EP and utterly fails to credit Dan for his playing on it.  Consider this remedied here.

Hope Springs.
A slightly unsettling little number, but it does pick up it’s mood towards the end when we get to all sing.  At the bit where the music stops you should practice clapping along.  This could be difficult if your lighter is aloft, so be very careful.

Whilst recrording the ‘new material’ we took the opportunity to run through a few ‘oldies’, and offer you them now gratis.  The spirit of the season has obviously overwhelmed us, and generosity is oozing from our ever pore.
