Without wanting to blow our own trumpet, we've just spotted that the alternative version of Laid In Grass has been winning some praise. It's been quietly sitting in a competition over on the GarageBand website for some time, and has - at various times - won Best Female Vocal, Best Production, Best Melody, Best Mood and Most Original (all in the 'Acoustic' category).

Absolutely amazing.

I love it.

I'm off to translate every thought I've ever had in to japanese and back again, reckon it should take me about two minutes.

Turns out "Poirot" (like taxi and radio) is the same the world over.

Hello again, I have now also listened to the 5.1 version of "If You Repeat". This mix is, as the surround freaks call it, very discrete. I happen to like that very much. This is a real good surround presentation. Maybe you do not want to all your songs like this, but if you do, you've got my blessing :-).

My goodness. 99p! What brilliant value.

Should you want to burn them onto CD you'll want copy these 'sleeve notes' on a folded piece of paper in your neatest handwriting to make a booklet. You'll also need to draw a picture on the front. Try a nice bold pencil crayon drawing of a Butterfly. Colour right to the edges, for added neatness. Ask a grown up to help if you get stuck.

"If You Repeat" cw "Un-natural Selection"

"If You Repeat" has been part of ButterflyPolite's live set for some while, but has previously ducked and weaved and generally avoided being recorded - so here it is presented as a studio recording for the first time.

The song is a pretty, but slightly sinister, warning about keeping schtum, if you know what's good for you. Consider that when you're bragging about your conquests.

"Un-natural Selection" is an 'oldie' which first appeared on the Bursting Bubbles E.P., but this new studio recording captures the band 'as live' in the studio, and is quite a different beast to the familiar recorded version. A live favourite amongst audiences and band members alike.

Here, ButterflyPolite are found casting two fingers at Darwin and delighting in mismatched relationships.

--==00==--

The songs were both recorded as a band 'live' in the studio, with the only overdubs being to rectify the fact that we have not got enough arms to play everything at once. Damn our non-octopus-i-ness.
