Ban this filth.

Further to Andy’s previous, slightly sick and twisted posting about a song what he had writ, and the project it was for…

Here is a place where you can win your very own copy on CD -

You might be interested to see/hear that Andy’s contribution to the very special ‘My First Sing-along Dictionary’ album is featured over at http://myfirstdictionary.blogspot.com/

For those who have not previously met it be warned, My First Dictionary dares you to chuckle at some very dark things.

A rather last minute notice, but Sarah, Andy and Doug will be playing and chatting live on BBC Radio Leicester tomorrow (Friday 14/05/10) afternoon just after 3pm.

Expect an unusually reserved chat/singing as the invitation has specified that we should ‘not swear’.  I hope that in return the BBC have acted upon the rider information concerning out particular M&M colours.  (Sarah = Greens only.  Doug = No Yellows.  Andy = Violets and Tans only).

I think one may have the option of ‘listening live’ or ‘listening again’ if you have missed it for a little via their website.

Life…

Add a comment
…don’t talk to me about life.

Hasn’t it been quiet ’round here?

Yes, but not ‘cos we’ve been silent.  Oh no.  But rather because we have been Internetless.  ’Webless’ equates to ‘Silent’ in the digital age.  In Myspace no-one can hear you scream.

This has been down to the utterly-mundane-and-completely-non-musical event of moving house.  Whilst it is absolutely exciting to Sarah and Andy, it is probably slightly less so for the casual ButterflyPolite listener.  Paint Rollers rather than Rock’n'Rollers.  Curtains Rails rather than Curtain Calls.  Telephone Line rather than Microphone Lead.

Now, slowly but surely they are rebuilding their lives in a new locale.  Rest assured that the studio is in the process of being rebuilt and normal service shall soon resume.

Andy’s month.

Add a comment
February is a super-happy-fine month.  Here is why -

1. It is an even numbered month.  (As any fule kno, the even months are the good ones).

2. It has 28 days (aside of leap year shenanigans).  Thus it is a whole number of weeks.

3. It is 1/13th of a year long.

4. It contains pancake day.  (Well, most years.  Damn you full moon!  Damn you!).

5. It has a silent ‘r’.  To most people.

6. It is the month of the RPM challenge (create a new original album in Feb).

Point 6, is the reason this site has been a bit quite.  Andy has not blogged/slept/washed throughout the month as he’s been beavering away on his second solo album.  For no reason other than the fact that he could.

The results of his month can be found here:  www.butterflypolite.com/uglifruit

He’s going to rest now.

Japenglish Poetry

Google has just translated ‘If Not Tonight’ into Japanese for me, then back into English.
Here is the beautiful poem it came up with:

Maybe I misheard

Just like love, is similar to the reluctance
Maybe you are confused
Investment desires - in the eyes of the same bruise

If tonight
Then when
Waiting until after we
During the light I thank you so grab your daily bon appétit
And I could hold on to all my

If tonight
Then when
Will the end to this awkward dance
I’m dizzy spinning your side
And I could hold on to all my
In addition, if it is not right
We can still call the day walking
And some of our pride

Cos at least our people are ‘I tried
Maybe I misheard
Just like love, is similar to the reluctance
Maybe you are confused

If not today
Soon after
I hear we are missing opportunities for people loom
Is to kiss the tears dry
And I could hold on to all my

If tonight
Then when
This whole charade is that we are friends
Please crush
What matters is what happens
And again
Please. Lies and hold on tight
However, I have not seen in the eyes
‘Cos I may survive

Seasonal Greetings.

Today is the first day that it’s felt cold enough to really be December.  Yes, I know that you’ve already eaten 10 of the cheap chocolates behind your advent calendar doors, and that you’ve missed the last posting day to get your Christmas cards sent to your long lost relations, but…

…it’s just not really seemed Christmassy enough to be the end of the year, has it?  We have not been walking in a winter wonderland, chestnuts have stayed well away from our open fires, and the snow does not lay ’round about.  (Not deep nor crisp nor even).

We have, however, been busy little Butterflies and been embracing the festive spirit behind closed doors, and thus shall soon be unleashing our Christmas Single upon the world.  If you are good boys and girls, then “Christmastime (is a time to be polite)” should be sitting under your tree or in your stocking sometime towards the end of next week.

Mistletoe Kisses.

Iffy single.

Add a comment
November’s single… out now.  With a slightly ‘Iffy’ theme.

“If Not Tonight” (our little tribute to the golden age of straw boater hats), and a new acoustic version of live favourite “If He’s Looking Down” are now available to listen to online, or to download to your em pee three player for £1.

Fact-ettes:

If Not Tonight …
…is our first recording to feature banjo.
…continues our theme of using ‘If’ titles, AND having the title in the first line.
…will have a video.
…initially existed as a surround sound only song.
…is great fun to play live.

If He’s Looking Down…
…name checks some great 80’s records.
…causes arguments over who should get to do the backing vocals.
…was the first song we played live at the BBC studios on Radio 6.
…has a funny length bar in the middle.
…was originally recorded as a traditional country and western sounding song.
