Hands up…

…you’re surrounded!

Continuing the experiments we have been making in the land of Surround Sound Audio, ButterflyPolite are pleased to offer a FREE download of “Laid In Grass” (5.1 surround sound mix).  [A completely new recording of this song, mixed in surround].

The file a 16bit 44.1Khz .wav file, which is DTS encoded 5.1 surround.  To play this file, the data needs to be sent to a DTS decoding receiver/amp.  The simplest way of doing this (depending on your set up) is to burn the file as an audio CD and play the resultant CD in a CD/DVD player that is digitally connected to a DTS decoding receiver.  We have tried this, and it does work.

It may also be possible to decode this DTS .wav file in software if you have a surround playback system connected to your computer.  Your milage from this approach may vary, depending on how tech savvy you are.

We would love feedback on your thoughts on this experiment, and whether you would like to see/hear more surround mixes of ButterflyPolite.

Nice of you to make a surround version, the DTSCD works perfect.
About the mix: for my taste there is not enough going in the rears. Only some faint ambient, you could have tried: the whole string section and/or the voice overdubs.
That said, it is a matter of preference of course.
Lots of luck with the “experimenting”.

Hello again, I have now also listened to the 5.1 version of “If You Repeat”. This mix is, as the surround freaks call it, very discrete. I happen to like that very much. This is a real good surround presentation. Maybe you do not want to all your songs like this, but if you do, you’ve got my blessing :-).
